This week, Jacob Forrester, P.E., Past-President of ASCE's MS Section and our April 2021 Engineer Spotlight feature, testified before the Mississippi Senate Highways & Transportation Committee. Jacob reported on the condition of the state's infrastructure as characterized in the 2020 Mississippi Infrastructure Report Card and focused on the investment needed for the state’s road, bridge, port, and rail infrastructure.
Jacob shared key recommendations needed to ensure that investments be strategically focused using consensus-based codes and standards and that they be supported by a comprehensive education campaign on the true costs and savings by investment in critical infrastructure.
