In 2018, the National Society of Professional Engineers used a Mississippi court case involving the Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors to actively assert and advocate in federal court its longstanding policy on the use of the term "Engineer" by unqualified and unlicensed individuals or companies.
